The Bisbee 1000, or The Great Bisbee Stair Climb is the only fund raising outdoor stair climb in the United States. This event is arguably one of the most unique and challenging events you will experience. Join Team AVC for the 25th Annual Bisbee 1000 in 2015.
Where: Bisbee, Arizona
Distance: ~4.8 miles covering 1034 historic stairsteps
About the Great Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb
The course contains 9 historical staircases totaling a little over 1000 steps. The stairs are connected by winding roads, taking participants through approximately 4.8 miles of the most scenic parts of “Old Bisbee.” This picturesque town’s stairways originally followed the mule paths worn into the terrain during Bisbee’s copper mining past.
The Bisbee 1000 attracts people of all ages (and abilities) ranging from ages 5-87.
Racers hit it for a potential ‘win”….others for a PR…while others just want to walk it briskly while taking in all of the beauty this small historical Arizona town has to offer.
Temperatures can often hit 80+ degrees with the town of Bisbee sitting at over 5300 feet elevation!
Make no mistake, this is a fun event indeed, but definitely brings a challenge to all who participate!
